How does Made-to-Order work, and how long does it take?
Every Made-to-Order gown is made to your order in Los Angeles. Standard orders take 12 weeks; embroidered and lace styles take 16 to 20 weeks for delivery. In some cases a rush may be possible, with a 20% rush fee applied. If your wedding is sooner still, we can often accommodate extreme rush orders — please inquire directly, and we will do everything possible to make it work. Please note that all purchases are final sale.
What sizes do you offer?
Made-to-Order gowns are offered in sizes 00 to 30, and any size can be made custom. Each gown is made in the size you specify, so please refer to the size chart on the product page or complete our sizing guide before ordering.
How do I know which size to order?
Please refer to our size chart on each product page. If you are unsure of your sizing, we will provide a sizing guide for you to complete, and our stylists are glad to advise at bride@houghtonstudio.com. For in-person appointments, our stylists take your measurements at the atelier and ensure the gown is made in the proper size.
What if I receive my gown and it doesn't fit?
Your gown is made to the measurements you provide, and we take great care to ensure it is made correctly. If the gown has been made to the correct measurements and still does not fit, we can alter it for an alteration fee. If a mistake was made on our part, we will accommodate the order and make the necessary corrections.
Will I need alterations, and who completes them?
Alterations are likely but should be minimal, as the gown is made in your size. For online orders, we suggest having a seamstress near you complete your alterations. If you would prefer our team to complete them at the atelier, please contact Houghton.
What is the difference between Made-to-Order and Custom?
Made-to-Order gowns are signature Houghton silhouettes, made in your size from your measurements; minor alterations are usually required, and an alteration fee applies. Custom gowns are one-of-one pieces designed with Katharine Polk and made to your every measurement.
